Tucker G. McWeeny is a graduate of Hartford Public High School (1992) and received his International Baccalaureate from St. Andrews College in Dublin (1994). Mr. McWeeny graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, cum laude, in 1999 with a B.A. in History. Mr. McWeeny entered the University of Connecticut School of Law as a Dean’s Scholar and received his J.D. in 2004.
Mr. McWeeny is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Mr. McWeeny is also admitted to the Mohegan Tribe Gaming Disputes Court.
Mr. McWeeny joined the firm in 2009 as an Associate. In 2017, Mr. McWeeny became a Partner of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McWeeny served as a clerk at the Middletown Superior Court. After this clerkship, Mr. McWeeny spent three years with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (“CHRO”) where he focused on housing and lending discrimination matters. Mr. McWeeny’s practice with the firm is concentrated on civil rights, Fair Housing and housing discrimination claims under State and Federal Law, administrative law, municipal law and premises liability. Mr. McWeeny also handles the defense of discrimination claims under State and Federal Law, as well as a variety of litigation matters for public housing authorities in Connecticut, including claims brought under the Fair Housing Act. Mr. McWeeny has investigated claims of employment discrimination for municipalities. Mr. McWeeny has trial experience trying cases to verdict both in the role of second chair and as trial counsel. In addition, Mr. McWeeny consults as an expert in civil rights litigation and administrative procedure. Mr. McWeeny has been approved by both the United States Department of Housing and Development (“HUD”) and CHRO to provide Fair Housing training and is a frequent speaker on current housing topics and strategies for limiting exposure to Fair Housing claims. Mr. McWeeny has developed a system of processing reasonable accommodation requests that has been successful in dramatically decreasing exposure for both public and private housing providers.
Mr. McWeeny is a member of the Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Association, the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. McWeeny is active in the young lawyers section of the Primerus Defense Institute.
Mr. McWeeny is married with three children (Cailynn, Declan and Madaket) and lives in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
